Base to take a 3-1/2 in diam. column 90mm This column capital is carved equally on all four sides and features a rebated column fitting. Characteristic of the later Roman Column Capital, the scrolls of this Corinthian capital protrude at an angle to the corners in a splayed effect, traditionally more adept to carry heavier weights of a pediment entablature whilst giving a lightness of feeling to the architectural design. The base for insertion of the column top is recessed above the level of the base line.
